Citium - the birth place of the founder of Stoicism - Zenon

Citium was an ancient city located on the south coast of modern-day Cyprus. Founded in the late 12th century BCE, it was one of the most important cities of the island and played a significant role in the ancient Mediterranean world.

Citium was a thriving commercial center and was known for its trade connections with other cities in the region. It was a hub for the export of copper, the main resource of Cyprus, and was also a center for the production of textiles, pottery, and glassware. The city was also a significant center for religion and had several temples dedicated to various deities.

One of the most famous residents of Citium was the philosopher Zenon of Citium, who was born in the city in the 4th century BCE. Zenon was the founder of the Stoic philosophy, which became one of the most influential schools of thought in ancient Greece and later in Rome. His teachings emphasized the importance of ethics, logic, and physics in our understanding of the world, and the idea that we should focus on what we can control and remain calm and unemotional in the face of adversity.

In addition to its commercial and philosophical significance, Citium was also known for its athletic traditions. The city was home to a famous gymnasium and was a major center for athletic competition, with the Cypriot Games being held there every four years.

Despite its prosperity, Citium was destroyed several times throughout its history, including a major earthquake in the 3rd century CE and several raids by pirates. However, it was always rebuilt and continued to be an important center for commerce and culture.

In conclusion, ancient Citium was a city of significant importance in the ancient Mediterranean world. Its role as a commercial center, its contributions to philosophy through the teachings of Zenon of Citium, and its athletic traditions made it a unique and influential city in its time. Today, the ruins of ancient Citium can still be seen on the south coast of Cyprus, serving as a reminder of its rich cultural heritage. ======================================================================= INFORM - all photos is from a study/research by tFv and can order in ANY product from the eShop photo album OF the tFv = https://www.think-citium.thinkfamilyvacation.com/ ===================================================================== THERE IS PIONEER TOURIST IDEA HOW CAN ZENON OF CITIUM CAN INGREASE THE TOURISM OF LARNACA BY 30% - ONLY IF THEY ACCEPT MY IDEA AND TO WORK FOR THE TOURISM OF LARNACA ===================================================================== by Think Family vacation- the 1st creaTive tourist website =Projects on sports tourism combine the..history of each place .- and..NEW marketing ideas/ART Services =social media = [photo/video]/ Sport services -with..think sport court -A pioneer basketball program [ edu/tourist/anti bullying/pro sport guidance] - for ANY age/family act = For ANY place/park/hotel act = https://shoutout.wix.com/so/e4OKI7yGT?languageTag=en #TOURISM #offer #family #hotel #basketball #travel #socialMedia #thinkfamilyvacation #sportsTourism = follow/share/like- be partner in tFv socials [ facebook/ instagram/youtube ] = think family vacation ======================================================================
